K&L Gates Adds to Public Policy and Law Practice in Houston, Washington, D.C.
Houston – Global law firm K&L Gates welcomes John Northington Jr. to the firm’s Public Policy and Law practice as a government affairs advisor in the Houston and Washington, D.C., offices.
Northington has more than a decade of public and private sector energy policy and regulatory experience. Most recently, he served as senior director, federal affairs, with a boutique lobbying firm in Houston. Northington concentrates on federal regulatory and policy affairs both in the Executive and Legislative Branches with particular focus on energy issues within the Department of the Interior, Department of Energy, Environmental Protection Agency, and House and Senate Committees with jurisdiction and oversight of energy and natural resources related activity. Northington previously served as advisor to the director of the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement at the US Department of the Interior. Having been involved in politics for more than 15 years, he has substantial experience with local, state, and federal political campaigns.

Northington’s arrival follows the addition of several other new lawyers and policy professionals to the practice this year, including partner Jamie Jackson, former senior counsel to former US House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer; partner Matt Leggett, former minority chief counsel with the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee; government affairs advisor Finch Fulton, former US Department of Transportation deputy assistant secretary for transportation policy; government affairs advisor Ryan Carney, former chief of staff for two members of Congress; and of counsel Len Bickwit.
