K&L Gates Recognizes International Women's Day 2024
K&L Gates LLP is celebrating International Women’s Day 2024 throughout the month of March, including a fireside chat with Mattel, Inc.’s senior director, associate general counsel Maggie Snow, and senior counsel Daria Licausi. The speakers will share their personal perspectives on the evolution of Barbie in their careers, inclusive representation, the Oscar-nominated Barbie movie, and the significance of allyship.
K&L Gates offices across the firm’s global platform also will celebrate International Women’s Day with insightful client-facing, internal, and community engagement activities, such as fireside chats with distinguished women writers; women-led CLE panel discussions; silent auctions to benefit women’s causes; discussions on the importance of voting; and many more events supporting and accelerating women’s equality around the world.
International Women’s Day is a global day recognizing the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women that also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. This year’s global theme, “#InspireInclusion,” reflects the idea that everyone is responsible for embracing fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all.
April Boyer, a partner in the Miami office and chair of the firm’s global Women in the Profession Committee, remarked: “K&L Gates is embracing International Women’s Day and celebrating all the ways we inspire inclusion around the globe. K&L Gates views law as a gender-equal profession and has, as a leader in the profession, created a workplace that honors women’s equality. I am truly optimistic for the future for women in the practice of law, and I am confident that K&L Gates will continue to inspire inclusion and advance the practice of law for everyone.”
K&L Gates’ firmwide Women in the Profession Committee works to identify and promote ways for women lawyers to advance their careers, to promote women as leaders and role models, and to enhance the sense of community among women professionals and among all our team across our global platform.
The firm sponsors and participates in a number of programs that positively impact women and other underrepresented groups. Internally, these programs include the firm’s Conversations About Race and Diversity, a firmwide speaker series focusing on the lingering effects of inequality and systemic racism in society; an equal justice pro bono effort to provide pro bono assistance in areas of particular need, such as voting rights, criminal justice reform, and the rights of indigenous peoples; K&L Gates: The Power of Partnership, a pipeline program with clients that offers first-year law school students the unique opportunity to experience legal work in both firm and in-house client settings; and various mentoring programs, including one for diverse lawyers.
