Brisbane – Global law firm K&L Gates has further bolstered its Real Estate practice with the appointment of Justin O'Callaghan as a partner, based in Brisbane. O'Callaghan joins K&L Gates from McInnes Wilson Lawyers, where he was a principal in the firm’s construction and infrastructure practice.
O'Callaghan has advised leading public and private sector clients on a wide range of complex engineering, procurement and construction projects. His experience encompasses energy and renewables, infrastructure, natural resources, and large scale developments. He has advised international and domestic clients, and acts for principals, financiers, head contractors, and major project participants.
O'Callaghan's diverse experience and cross-sector insights enable him to advise clients across a broad spectrum of transactions. He is well known for his ability to help clients identify market trends and opportunities, enabling them to make strategic decisions as well as deliver, operate, and maintain major construction projects.
K&L Gates' Regional Managing Partner, Australia, Jason Opperman said: "We are delighted to welcome Justin to the firm. He brings a wealth of experience and capability in the construction sector and adds extra depth to our Real Estate and Energy, Infrastructure and Resources practices. These are areas where we see potential for significant growth, in particular in Brisbane, and strong interest from our local and international clients."
Real Estate practice area leader Sandra Steele stated: "We are excited to have Justin join our team. As Brisbane prepares to host the Olympics in 2032, Justin is well placed to strengthen our construction and infrastructure capabilities, perfectly positioning the firm to further assist our clients with their projects leading up to the event and beyond."
O'Callaghan is the third partner to join the firm's Real Estate and Energy, Infrastructure and Resources practices in Australia over the past 12 months. His arrival follows the appointments of partners Jennifer McCosker and James Durnall in the Sydney office in 2023.
