Event
COVID-19 Best Practices for Bar Associations, hosted by Chicago Bar Association
How can (or should) bar associations function during a pandemic? Sure, everyone's transitioned to virtual meetings and webinars, but what about small in-person meetings? Or meetings convened outdoors? Is it okay if everyone's vaccinated and wears a mask or presents a negative COVID test result? Can or should we limit events to fully vaccinated persons only? Can or should we have an in-person conference if we cap attendance, and everyone remains socially distant? How do we communicate and enforce health and safety guidelines for attendees? What kinds of guarantees can or need to be included in contracts with restaurants, hotels, or other venues? What if everyone signs some sort of waiver? As bar associations tentatively contemplate a resumption of some pre-pandemic programming, is your bar association ready? What are the best practices that bar associations need to consider if they wish to return to some version of their pre-pandemic activities?
The Chicago Bar Association will host a presentation by April Boyer and Erinn Rigney of K&L Gates on best practices for these and other issues that bar associations are encountering during, and as a result of, the global pandemic. April and Erinn been advising industry groups, bar associations and not-for-profits about the particular challenges and considerations that they need to address as they think about resuming or modifying their pre-pandemic activities.
