Achieving ESG: Business Case for Nature-Based Climate Solutions, Hosted by The American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore
Achieving ESG is a new series that explores each pillar of ESG – Environment, Social, and Governance. Each session will address three approaches to achieving ESG—measuring, accelerating, and innovating.
This month, we explore the Environment pillar and discuss the gaps in policies addressing climate change and the critical role of science in helping businesses invest in sustainable nature-based climate solutions.
Nature-based Climate Solutions (NCS) are climate mitigation and adaptation technologies that harness natural processes to reduce global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. NCS can account for 37% of the reductions in emissions that we need to achieve by 2030. NCS are not only pivotal to limiting global emissions, but also play a crucial role in helping businesses achieve their own net-zero objectives through scalable, cost-effective approaches. This is particularly relevant for Southeast Asia, one of the most at-risk and vulnerable regions in the world to climate change while also holding the highest stocks of NCS potential.
Join us as we take a deep dive on the critical first steps and tools towards measuring, accelerating, and innovating sustainability goals; how sustainability can be woven into strategy plans; and the best practices for implementing nature-based climate solutions.
