Represented a multinational beauty company in negotiating its international collaboration with a Hollywood actress as the new face of its consumer beauty brand.
Advised a global cosmetics company on its US$600 million partnership with a social media influencer and the global launches of related skin and cosmetics lines.
Advised a global beauty and skin care company on global endorsement, advertising, and brand matters.
Advised a global beauty brand on a groundbreaking project to digitally transform its cosmetics and makeup product offerings, including one of the world’s first virtual makeup apps that enabled users to try on various “looks” and products in virtual reality.
Defended numerous skin care brands in false advertising and unfair competition claims and litigation. Claims were based on advertising statements regarding the effects of certain products or ingredients, slack fill, or other packaging design aspects.
Evaluated and advised on existing, or proposed, product claims with regard to potential labeling statements from the standpoint of the FDA, FTC, and class action or other business-to-business litigation risk.
Defended personal care product and sunscreen companies against California Proposition 65 claims and litigation relating to alleged inclusion of certain toxic chemicals, including but not limited to diethanolamine or cocamide DEA.
Advised on regulatory and litigation risk posed by manufacturing or retail sale of skin care, cosmetics, and other personal care products containing CBD.
Advised a global beauty company on global supply chain diligence, reporting laws, and related legislative trends.
Counseled and represented a global pharmaceutical/biologic company facing public and regulatory scrutiny for its well-known biologic used aesthetically and therapeutically. Handled over 50 lawsuits relating to this biologic, with most being voluntarily dismissed. This biologic, in its natural state, is known as the “most potent substance known to man” and used in bio-warfare. Tried seven cases for this client, five to verdict, with all but one ending in a positive result for the client.
